While some of our other non-surgical procedures combine different technologies for a boosted effect, Sofwave has a novel design that maximizes its energy delivery, resulting in immediate and consistent results.

What Is Sofwave Skin Tightening?

At The Plastic Surgery Clinic and MD Beauty Clinic, we offer Sofwave skin tightening, a tested and approved ultrasound therapy that stimulates the body’s production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.

Sofwave skin tightening works with SUPERB™ technology, or ‘Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam.’ The device head is affixed with 7 parallel transducers that cover a wide area of skin and evenly distribute energy for maximum efficiency. The energy penetrates 0.5 mm-2 mm into the skin, concentrating at 1.5 mm into the mid-dermis. Sofcool™, Sofwave’s embedded cooling technology, protects the surface of the skin from damage by detecting skin temperature and adjusting accordingly.

This comprehensive device permits a safe and powerful treatment that uses your own biological repair mechanisms. Sofwave promotes the very molecules (collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid) that are involved in skin laxity, texture, and definition, for a smooth and radiant complexion. It can define the jawline, target cellulite, reduce sagging on the lower chin and neck, and smooth wrinkles on the face and upper arms. Depending on your particular needs, Sofwave can be adjusted to address most skin concerns and is approved for use for all skin types.

How Is Sofwave Skin Tightening Performed?

A Sofwave skin tightening appointment is booked for 1-2 hours. The treatment begins with preparing the skin with analgesia, which takes about 30 minutes to take effect. Ultrasound gel is then applied to localize the energy conduction, and the device is carefully directed over the treatment area. The Sofwave device is continuously moved across the skin every 6-7 seconds.

If Sofwave is being used on the face, the entire procedure takes 30-60 minutes. If Sofwave is being used on the body (e.g., the upper arms or thighs), it can take 90 minutes or longer. At the end of your appointment, your aesthetician will offer post-care instructions to help you maintain your results.

Minor improvement can be seen immediately after treatment, while observable results usually emerge in as little as 2 weeks. Formerly sagging skin appears lifted and tightened, and ill-defined areas appear more structured. Although one treatment is usually enough for sustained results, follow-up appointments can be booked at the 3-month mark.

Who Are the Best Candidates for Sofwave Skin Tightening?

Sofwave is for those who want a skin-tightening treatment that strictly uses energy and preserves the body’s underlying structures (i.e., subcutaneous fat and muscle). Since Sofwave doesn’t involve microneedling or injections, it’s also a great option for patients who are averse to needles.

Preparing for Sofwave Skin Tightening

We advise that you come in makeup-free (if you’re treating the face) and avoid using retinol 2-4 days prior to your appointment. Other than that, no special preparations are required for Sofwave Skin Tightening.

Recovery Following Sofwave Skin Tightening

One of the many benefits of Sofwave is that it delivers results promptly, with little recovery involved. Patients may experience residual warmth from the energy transfer as well as some stinging, redness, or swelling. These symptoms generally resolve within a few hours, leaving patients free to enjoy a tighter, more lifted, and sculpted appearance the same day.
